Right, so it's been three months or so since I last posted one of these. In that time, I've gained ten pounds and rejoined Weight Watchers. My last meeting was in St. Charles, IL in June...so it's been a while. In that time I've gained something in the neighborhood of thirty pounds.
So the plan right now is to be as close to where I was at the beginning of last summer by the end of this summer.
In addition, by the time we leave for Spain on May 17th, I want to be able to wear my Furia Roja jersey. I promise not to wear it in Barcleona, too.
This week's quote about weight loss is courtesy of Mick Foley. In his new book, The Hardcore Diaries he talks about his struggle with his weight. This quote, I think, perfectly domonstrates why it's so freaking hard for me to keep my weight down.
"Actually, I eat a sensible, balanced diet for about twenty-three and a half hours a day. That other thrity minutes, however, can get a little ugly. That refrigerator (or freezer) door opens and common sense just seems to disappear. I've made some pretty startling rationalizations wile assuming that late-night/early-morning regrigerator stance. I have convinced myself that the rice in ricce pudding is a main-stay of many Asian diets, and that the milk in the pudding is helpful in building strong bones. I have alson noted that a portion of the proceeds from Ben & Jerry's Rain Forest Crunch is used to protect the environment. Hey, what more reason do I need? I'm a tree hugger of sorts. Two thousand late-night calories down the hatch."
Replace "late-night" with "mid-evening" or "mid-afternoon" and you've got me in there. I have to find a way to countermand that instinct.

Dude, when you figure it out, let me know. Because I'm all about the healthy, well-balanced meals. It's all the crap I eat in between that kills me.
I've found that chewing gum in the mid afternoon can help. You have to force yourself to get into the habit, but once it's a habit, it's quite satisfying.
