FUCKIN' A RIGHT DAWG!

Yeah, that's right, we're shedding our training weight. And we did it in a two week stretch that included Thanksgiving! What do I attribute this turnaround to?

Following the program.

I said it all the damn time when I was going to Weight Watchers meetings, and it's freakin' true. If you actually follow the program, log the POINTS(tm) and submit to an authority that knows more than you do, you actually lose weight.

So this week, I was honest with myself. And though I slipped up at least once every day, the overall was good because I was honest. Weight gain and loss are really about being honest with yourself. When you gain the weight, you lie to yourself and say it's OK. You lie and say you're not as heavy as you really are. There was a time when I claimed to weigh 100 lbs. less than I actually did. If that isn't self-delusion, I don't know what is.

When you're losing the weight, you need to be honest about your attempt. You have to tell yourself if you're actually doing all the things you're supposed to do to make the loss work. And, you have to be correct in that assessment. This week, I wasn't perfect, and I still have a long way to go to get myself actually on track, but this is totally a step in the right direction. Looks like I might be in the230s by my 10 year HS reunion this summer. Which, yknow, isn't the sub-deuce I wanted to be at two years ago, but I'll take it.

i hear you. i am training for a half marathon and watching what i eat. in three weeks i have lost 5 pounds abd gained 1.5 back. the honesty is what counts the most.
