Wild Card Weekend 05

Shit, yo. It's playoffs time again? Well, much like last year I'm going to offer my predictions and see what y'all have to say.

Feel free to throw your picks in as a comment.

Without further adieu, here are my picks

Wild Card Weekend

Rams @ Seahawks
Seahawks
Yes, the Seahawks aren't the best team on the west coast (those would be the men of Troy) but this game calls upon one of my primary rules of football. "Every team from Missouri is overrated."

Vikings @ Packers
Packers
Yes, I'm a Bears fan. Yes, my wife is a Vikings fan. But Cody said it best when he reasoned that any team that the BCS wouldn't put in a major bowl is going to get dismantled in the playoffs.

Jets @ Chargers
Chargers
In a move sure to piss off CJ ... not Craig, my buddy from KJ/Das ’ļberb¬½y. Cuz, well, I have a soft spot for LaDanian and Drew and the Bolts. It's true, it's true.

Broncos @ Colts
Colts
I mean, bet against Peyton Manning, on Wild Card Weekend? Are you mad? Especially when Jake Plummer's on the other offense? Seriously. Though it is cute to note that this game is horses against horses.

Yeah, I picked a bunch of homers, but, I mean. C'mon. Yeah.

The rest of you?

i know this sounds crazy, but i think that the broncos COULD beat indy. i don't think they will, but if i were to bet on an upset that is the one i'd be looking to. i think the colts are already a bit scared to be in foxboro in the cold two weeks from now that they easily could overlook this game. and denver is not a bad team. i'd love to have the running back combo of bell and droughns with the way both of them are playing right now. i also think that the secondary of the broncos matches up with the colts reasonably well. do i think denver will win, no. but i do think it could happen. and i would say that the seahawks are the fourth best football team on the west coast, behind san diego, usc and cal. i have one more sports related, but not football related, question for you. are the jayhawks playing a single road game this year? or did they find a way to play ever single one of their games at home? just curious.

yeah
i'm with you
i was half tempted to pick the broncos, but. . .no

as for the jayhawks
yeah
i know
a lot of us in this town are wondering about the road game issue

if i remember correctly
this stems from the ncaa restrictions on tourneys
i think self's logic is
"if i can't take my team on the road to anchorage or maui. . .every year? why take them on the road at all?"

we'll see how well this pans out when they hit the road this weekend...in kentucky

Rams @ Seahawks
Seahawks. I really don't give a shit either way but if I pick the Seahawks, I don't lose pace.

Vikings @ Packers
A Minny team that notoriously can't brave the elements is bad. A "star" who quits on his team and walks out is worse. Why oh why can't this team get the Hell out of here and move to L.A. Kobe and Randy...they'd be real pals. I don't care who suits up on Sunday...as long as #4 is wearing green, I'm picking the Packers.

Jets @ Chargers
Chargers. The Jets just aren't the doing it for me.

Broncos @ Colts
Damn, I'd like to pick the Broncos. I love the thought of Stockley vs. Lynch up the middle, but I have to go with the Colts.

I only know jack or shit about two of these games. I follow 2 teams religiously, and I know them and I know who they play on a regular basis (which means that there's this whole conference I know absolutely nothing about), so my picks as always are like a crap shoot, but an interesting one.

Rams v. S-hawks
My football sense tells me that the S-hawks suck. They have always sucked. They do always suck. They will always suck. I think I might have seen the Rams play a game this year, they sucked less. I'll take the Rams.

Gbay v. Men in funny hats with long braids
This isn't a game. This is a slaughter. With cheese. Behold the power of cheese! Gbay.

Jets v. Chargers
I take the Jets because they televise them more in the NE than the Chargers. I told you this was a crapshoot.

Equine Bowl
Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Team loyalty aside, in a battle between big bad broncos and itty witty little colts, the broncos will always win. That and I'd be disowned if I picked the other team (even if I am willing to admit my team's got Castro's chance in Miami).

Rams over Seahawks - Does Seattle actually win playoff games? I don't think they're going to start now.

Packers over Vikings - Does Minnesota actually win playoff games? I don't think they're going to start now.

Chargers over Jets - Does New York actually win pl-- no, just kidding. I feel like the Jets haven't been playing well lately, and I gotta go with Brees and Kaeding because they're Big Ten guys.

Colts over Broncos - I'll go with Peyton Manning even though he won't get to play on my fantasy team anymore, because 1-13 doesn't get the first pick in the draft when we're adding an expansion team. I'll be pulling for Denver, though.
