Mo-mas No-mar

I love the baseball offseason. It's a time when I can sit down and try to figure out how it is that the Cubs will manage to blow next season.

Today, the intrigue really begins in earnest, the Cubs have resigned Nomar Garciaparra. Here are a few links. . .

ESPN
and Cubs.com

The best part of all this is the memory of where I was the day the Cubs originally traded for Nomar. In Wrigleyville, at my bachelor party. If only the next year of his existance in Cubbie blue could be as happy as the moment we toasted to his coming to Chicago.

when nomar got traded i was in New Hampshire at my cousins wedding. a bunch of us were sitting around drinking discussing how as much of a pain in the ass nomah was that it was like the red sox were throwing in the towel mid season. and for mientkiwiecz (however you spell that shit) and cabrera we felt like the sox were getting hosed. of course, we were all wrong. i think it's really funny that nomar turned down 4 years for 60 million almost almost two years ago because he could get more later on. so instead of 4 years, 60 mil, world series title he ended up with 1 year, 8 mil, cubs. hahahaha.

Yup, I too am amused by how not bright he was financially. But I think the best thing for all the parties involved was for him to get out of Boston. Just a better situation all the way 'round.

Man, now I really want a Nomar shirt. If for no other reason than to get my money's worth on the screenprinting.

No, not really. I'd feel like I was jumping on a bandwagon. I'll probably pick up a Cubs one next time I'm home.
