A Disturbing Trend
Right, so why the hell am I only updating once a week? This really isn't a good thing. I can tell when I don't seem to have a handle on my life by how often I'm blogging. As of right now, I guess I'm just really, really busy and not budgeting my time well.
I'm assuming that this comes from the funk I'm currently in. No, it has nothing to do with the elections. It' does, however, have everything to do with the fact that Nena's never home. Seriously, yo. The reason she moved to Kansas was so we could be together. But this job of hers has her on the road from Mon-Fri. . .I didn't sign up for this, and neither did she when she took this job. Thereˆ‚s more to say about this. . .but Iˆ‚ll save that for another post.
Suffice it to say, her job is pissing me off almost as much as itˆ‚s pissing her off. . .and itˆ‚s really affecting my mood.
In other news, the election wasn't anything I didn't expect and I'm already moving on. Mistakes were made, yadda, yadda, yadda and I really want to understand the other side. I'm with folks like Al and Xay who want to know how folks who voted for Bush think. But more importantly. . .Iˆ‚ve come to a conclusion.
Iˆ‚m tired of being on the sidelines. Iˆ‚m tired of being a footsoldier. I think the time for me to step up and put my money and my mind on the line is coming really, really soon. Iˆ‚m getting impatient, Iˆ‚ve wanted to get into the game since I was a little kid. . .but after a while I stopped telling people for fear theyˆ‚d laugh at me. But I think Iˆ‚m over that now. I want to be the mythological "The Guy" when I grow up; and I think it's time I grew up. I donˆ‚t know what this is going to entail, I donˆ‚t know where itˆ‚s going to happen, but itˆ‚ll be soon and Iˆ‚m going to need a whole lot of help to get things done. . .whoˆ‚s with me?
Other, that is, than the folks whoˆ‚ve already told me theyˆ‚re with me.
Should be an exciting weekend; Nena and I are going on a date tonight. Dinner TBD and then a 7:10p showing of The Incredibles at one of the theaters around here. I donˆ‚t know which one, Nena bought the tickets yesterday. Iˆ‚m so freakinˆ‚ pumped. This movie looks so fucking hardcore. . .and theyˆ‚re premiering the trailer for Revenge of the Sith before The Incredibles. Yeah, I know, I know. I really shouldnˆ‚t still be this geeked about a new Star Wars movie, but I am.
I actually liked Attack of the Clones. It did everything I needed it to do. Anakin grew up, married Amidala, started the Clone Wars, surprised me about its origins and what it actually was, showed the beginnings of Anakinˆ‚s descent and it ended on a seriously ominous tone. Yeah, there was a cheesy romance in there, but itˆ‚s how Luke and Leiaˆ‚s parents got together, told in the serial genre. What the hell were you expecting, yo?
Yeah. . Iˆ‚m really excited.
Toddˆ‚s also coming down tomorrow. I havenˆ‚t seen this kid in far too long. . .I think it was January, 2003. . .yeah, it was. It was while I was still living in Missouri. And itˆ‚s also been a while since Iˆ‚ve seen him for longer than 12hrs at a stretch and not in Iowa City. So. . .yeah, Iˆ‚m pumped. Weˆ‚re going to see Bob Schneider tomorrow night at The Bottleneck. Should be an interesting show, and I havenˆ‚t been to the ˆ´neck since the smoking ban kicked in. Itˆ‚s amazing how this ban has totally changed some of my favorite places. . .But more on that in another post that Iˆ‚ve been working on for some time now.
Oh, and I think Toddˆ‚s gonna help me get rid of the bamboo, yes, bamboo, thatˆ‚s growing up around my house. Nena wants to get a panda to handle the problem; I think Todd and I will just mow that shit down instead.
Oh and as a preview to next week. . .Nena, Das Nibblet and I are going to see Ozomatli at The Granada. If youˆ‚re in the greater L-Town area. . .you really, really need to go to this show. Itˆ‚s going to be in-fucking-credible. And then, Thursday morning I leave for the American Studies Association Conference in the ATL. Damn, gonna be a good week.

Obama & Cruz 2020 !!!!!!!!!!!!
Heh, yeah. . .that's seriously too big a dream to dream right now.
i vote for the panda method of clearing the bamboo!!!!
Too late for that Cath. I went R.E.M. on that bamboo yesterday. . .now we just need to get lawn bags and clean it up. Apparently everyone in town is out of lawn bags.
Oh, the trevails of a suburbanite.
