Raw Thoughts

I taped Raw tonight. It was the carrot dangling in front of my reading. I finished my reading for the evening and popped the tape in. I have a few thoughts.

1) This announcer's feud makes total sense to me. No, really, it does. Since there is such a drought of wrestling talent on the WWE payroll, they actually have no choice but to have these non-wrestlers taking up airtime, yknow, wrestling.

2) Triple H's current ring attire. Seriously, doesn't it scream "Fanny Pack." He totally needs one of those, it'll go great with those trunks. Maybe some roller blades as well. Man, can someone find a picture? Cuz it's really kinda brilliant. I think JR said he has to wear them because of "Groin Injury." Right JR. Way to cover for hHh's lack of fashion sense.

3) Is it me? Or is Triple H's hair thinning out. Looks like the 'roids are catching up to him.

Yup, these are the things I think about.

Yeah that is awesome! That's totally why I watch wrestling...I like watching crazed lunatics hooking up car batteries to other men's testicles! This is awesome television! By gawd, what a great time to be watching wrestling. I've never been prouder to be a wrestling fan...

The weird tights actually are for H's groin injury. Funny you mention the fanny pack..his buddy Nash used to wear one to the ring in the NWO days as part of his "street clothes" wardrobe. I used to have a fanny pack back when they were an 80s fashion accessory. Oh, the horror...

Should be interesting to see if he gets hair grafts like Randy Savage or starts wearing bandanas like Hogan. I think he's gonna shave all his hair off...then the guys on the RAW roster will be able to grow their hair out again.

Right, I'd tried to forget the whole testicles and a car battery thing. I just don't get the logic that creative is using right now. Why, oh why would he help Kane torture his boss's son. Makes no sense to me.

That said, it was a pretty brilliant plot device. My issue with it is that it was in a show that is already featuring an announcer's feud. That and there is no unifying thread to all this. Like, I dunno, the obvious one where Bischoff is creating a cartel of evil, EVIL!!!! I say.

Seriously, though why not put some lower card wrestler in that predicament and THEN have RVD save the kid. You have the same situation, but then RVD gets to mentor some lower card guy, and you have an alliance of some sort. Wow, sounds like the old days to me.

Ahh, Fanny Packs, I'm just gonna walk away from this one, methinks.

As for the hair, who knows what they'll do. I hope he does another hair match, that'd be great. Jericho as King of the Hair Match. I'm liking it.

Heh, Randy Savage got grafts. Randy, "Be a Man" Savage? Yup, this guy's seriously toasted.

The car battery thing was just a setup for next week's electric cage match....which reeks of cheapness. I don't like it.

kinda like when a wrestler (even the good ones) calls someone "son of a bitch," massive emphasis on the biatch. It's just cheap heat.

The cartel of evil would work, but that would mean planning more than a week ahead. A co-general manager assembling a crew of cronies should have long-term repercussions in other storylines on the show (the possibilities are endless), but we haven't seen anything like that in years. I don't think we'll see anything like that again, at least for a while, now that I think about it. These writers (rather, the honchos that sit above the writing crew...the McMahons) have absolutely no handle on continuity. It's insulting.

It's like that guy from Memento is writing these scripts. they keep forgetting what happened last week, and nothing makes any sense...e.g. - Kane gets tossed in a burning dumpster only to show up 7 days later wearing a small bandage on his left arm??? Farking a.

Damn.

Memento shot, that was a good one.

Didn't know that the cage match is an Electric Cage Match. Totally sounds like a cheap gimmick. But, well cheap gimmicks can work. . .sometimes.

But seriously, some long term planning would help out. Why aren't they allowing that anymore? It makes no sense to me.

Ah, my bad dude. It's not an electric cage match...I missed a few parts and had to read a recap. The recapper was being sarcastic. But still, I wouldn't put it past them.

Why no long-term planning? You got me. All I know is the current "let's throw this junk on the wall and see what sticks" approach isn't working. I'm even thinking about skipping Smackdown this week.

nenie said:

Damn, Smack!Down sucks too, now?

Red said:

No, not really (thanks to Eddie G). I'm just so pissed at WWE programming I'm thinking about banning all WWE programming in general (except ppvs)......at least for now

nenie said:

See, this is my thing, which gets your point across better. Not watching free TV, or not paying for PPVs. Just wondering.

Funny you mention that, since I've been thinking about getting a black box. It'll cut down on my spending, that's for sure...

RE: Macho Man
mtv did an article http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1477844/20030903/savage_macho_man_randy.jhtml?headlines=true
